In Layman's Terms

No doubt you've seen style switchers on other pokemon sites, but none of those sites has the customizability of pokemonfan.net's style switcher. Basically our style switcher on pokemonfan.net allows you to do two things. First, you can select from a nice range of different layout designs. Or you can choose to customize your own layout! Just select your colors, choose your background, and click apply! It's that simple.

At long last our prayers have been answered.  Nintendo has teased us over the last couple years with the Seattle Emerald Videogame Tournament, the Journey Across America, and the Pokemon Videogame Showdowns in California and New York City.  At long last, we have the Pokemon Videogame World Championships!

I have been advocating that POP be given control of not just the tcg tournaments, but given the green light to make a video game tournament series as well.  While it doesn't look like POP is directly going to be running the video game series of tournaments that Nintendo announced yesterday on Pokemon.com, a regional series of videogame tournaments in the United States and across Europe followed by a National Championships held in tandem with the National TCG Championships in St. Louis, Missouri (June 27th and 28th) and followed up by the Pokemon World Championships (video game edition) in San Diego, California, also being held alongside the World TCG Championships.  (August 14th and 15th)

This is absolutely fantastic news and at long last brings both serious acknowledgment of the competitive focus of the pokemon games and the need to have a serious nintendo run and sponsored tournament.  I know I'll be trying to go to one of the regional tournaments this spring.

In any event while pokemon.com does reveal that more specific tournament rules will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks they do say that:

"for now we can reveal that Pokemon Trainers will compete using the 2-on-2 Double Cup format, with no Pokemon allowed to exceed level 50.  Stay tuned for more information about which Pokemon will be restricted.  The competition will take place exclusively using Pokemon Platinum Version, so be sure to pick up the game when it is released on March 22nd.  With new adventures, never-before-seen Formes of powerful Pokemon, and expanded online options, Pokemon Platinum Version has plenty of new surprises for Pokemon fans."

In other news, the Nintendo DSi is scheduled to be released on different dates around the world with Nintendo having announced the release in Australia on April 2nd, April 3rd in Europe and on April 5th in North America.

Also, in case you've not yet seen, Nintendo has also launched the Pokemon Platinum website, click here to see it.

Given that Pokemon Platinum's release to North America on March 22nd is just a couple more weeks away, I figured we could wet our appetite by watching one of the Japanese trailers for the game.
