In Layman's Terms

No doubt you've seen style switchers on other pokemon sites, but none of those sites has the customizability of's style switcher. Basically our style switcher on allows you to do two things. First, you can select from a nice range of different layout designs. Or you can choose to customize your own layout! Just select your colors, choose your background, and click apply! It's that simple.

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to talk a little bit today about the opening of a new Pokemon Center in Sapporo, Japan as well as the airing of Giratina and the Sky Warrior, as well as the new platinum pre-order bonus and the Shaymin distribution event going on now at Toys R Us.  As you probably already know, Pokemon Centers already have been scattered around Japan.  While in America, we have Nintendo World in New York City, formerly a pokemon center, Japan has multiple pokemon centers.  While the country of Japan may be only about the size of California, with the opening of a new Pokemon Center in the mall at Sapporo Esta, Japan now has 6 different pokemon centers.  The sixth store, which will be opening on March 6th, 2009 will apparently be selling over 1000 different items of pokemon merchandise.  The other 5 pokemon centers in Japan will all commemorate the opening of the new stores by selling special limited edition merchandise.  No idea exactly what 'special' merchandise will be sold though.

Now, I don't know about all of you, but I think it's ridiciulous that Japan has just opened a sixth Pokemon Center while all the United States has is a Nintendo World, which if the rumor mill is true, wasn't doing so hot as a pokemon center and NOA opted to rebrand it as Nintendo World in an effort to pick up customers from all their different franchises.  Now, while I'll admit it's sad if that is true, I myself visited Pokemon Center many times back when it was open, I was there for the pre-release event for FRLG and numerous other special events.  But seriously, NOA should seriously consider opening up an additional Pokemon Center or two, maybe one in like Missouri at St. Louis or something where they're holding tcg Nationals now, or perhaps Orlando, Florida, which has hosted Worlds several times, and even better 1 in California, where tcg Worlds will be hosted this year.  And of course this doesn't even consider the fact that Europe and the UK are wallowing in having nothing at all.  Where are they supposed to go, Game Stop?!  I dont' think so.  Seriously NOA, open another freakin' Pokemon Center somewhere in the west, please?

Well, in any event; Target, GameStop, and Best Buy will be looking for you to spend your money on pre-ordering your copy of Pokemon Platinum.  If you choose to do so, you'll get the same Giratina figurine that was given out in the japanese platinum preorders.

Honestly it looks pretty slick to me.  I have those limited edition Palkia and Dialga figurines, which look like bookends, they're in clouds too.  I'll definitley be picking this up too.  I'm glad Nintendo has been slowly trying to populate the US with some slightly cooler merchandise; it's sad how little we get in the West.  When I go to Japan I'll be picking up so much pokemon merchandise it won't even be funny.  Then when we host trivia again, everyone will have a chance to get some. :P

Also, Cartoon Network has already been having commercials for the three hour special Giratina and the Sky Warrior, movie event, that they'll be hosting at 7 pm (est), this Friday February 13th.  It'll be repeated again on February 15th at 8 pm and 8 pm again on February 18th on Cartoon Network.  Be there. ;)  Thanks to bulbanews for the info.

Last of all, don't forget to go pick up Shaymin at your local Toys R US (USA event only, sorry Canada), it's happening now through February 14th (this saturday).  You can see the picture on the slideshow, above.

I've been a bit busy with work lately, but everything's on track for being finished before I leave for Japan on April 1st.

Also, I'd just like to extend a very warm welcome to PikaPower's HQ who was previously one of our affiliates but has recently joined the Islander Network as our third site.  Congratulations and Welcome. ^^
