In Layman's Terms

No doubt you've seen style switchers on other pokemon sites, but none of those sites has the customizability of pokemonfan.net's style switcher. Basically our style switcher on pokemonfan.net allows you to do two things. First, you can select from a nice range of different layout designs. Or you can choose to customize your own layout! Just select your colors, choose your background, and click apply! It's that simple.

So by now I'm sure everyone's gotten a nice look at the new Nintendo DSI which is slated for an international release some time in 2009.  The DSI is going to pretty much be another variation on the Nintendo DS, versus an actual new handheld.  Honestly while I like that the DSI's going to come with two new cameras, ad larger screens which have been expanded to 3.25 inches which are 17 percent bigger than the original 3-inch LCDs.  The gameboy advance slot will be replaced with an DS card slot which I thought I read somewhere will let you play music.  Plus all the slimmer better goodness.  Seriously though, I don't think I'll be going out to buy it.  I actually just grabbed myself one of the dialga/palkia limited edition ds lite's off ebay about 8 months ago and have been very pleased with it.  But that cost a nice bundle and I'm not really willing to go out and purchase the DSI just so I can play diamond and carry around a camera.  =\  The camera's not supposed to be that good, not even as good as a camera phone.

DSI's supposed to launch in Japan on November 1st for ¥18,900 ($179, £101).

Gamespot had an interview with an industry analyst who said they didn't expect the DSI to do much for Nintendo in the market.  Given that the DSI is the second incarnation of the DS, I would probably agree with him.  After all the Gameboy Advance only had one incarnation, didn't it?  Just GBA SP.  Or does the GBA Micro count?  Don't know.

Also, some other interesting news.

Nintendo is apparently slating a new console to launch in 2011.  This new console will apparently be a true next generation console and a successor to the Wii, which apparently means it'll keep the name.  So that'll be really nice.  I'm really of two minds about the Wii.  On the one side I think it's great we have an alternative to the traditional gaming systems, like the 360 and the PS3.  But on the other side, it's only a great thing if we've got games which utilize the full capacity of the Wii's motion technology, and I've not seen anything so far that does it.  It's really more like an interactive tv atm, then anything else.  So bringing the Wii up to the specs of the PS3 and the 360 will be much appreciated; provided of course at the same time we get some games which make full use of the wii's capabilities.

What they play suggests "While our sources are reluctant to be too specific about “Wii HD,” they have been able to divulge some (albeit predictable) generalizations. High definition visuals are assured, as is a greater emphasis on digitally distributed and backwardly compatible content, indicating that the new system will feature some form of local storage medium such as a hard drive or large flash memory solution. It has also been indicated that Nintendo’s emphasis is again on what the consumer will hold in their hands and interact with, rather than the “console” itself."

Furthermore Nintendo is apparently spending 370 million dollars in their research and development project; apparently 10 times just 4 years ago.  So hopefully they're putting that money to good use and we'll have something we can really sing our teeth in.  Perhaps a brand new series; like Mario, Zelda, and Pokemon.  That would be nice too, it's high time Nintendo brought in a new member to the family.

Of course, this is all just speculation.  :P
